Linda Gil

LINDA GIL is an Associate Professor at the Paul-Valéry University of Montpellier 3, and a member of the IRCL (Institute for Research on the Renaissance, the Classical Age and the Enlightenment).

A specialist in the history of books and publishing in the 18th century, she devoted her thesis to the study of the first posthumous edition of the complete works of Voltaire. The book resulting from his thesis : L’édition Kehl de Voltaire. Une aventure éditoriale et littéraire au tournant des Lumières, was published in 2018 by Honoré Champion (Honorary Prize for Bibliography and Book History, awarded by the Syndicat de la Librairie Ancienne et Moderne, September 2021).

A member of the Voltaire Society and the Society for Voltaire Studies, she is co-director of the Revue Voltaire and co-directs an investigative file in the Cahiers Voltaire devoted to the presence of Voltaire at the Panthéon. She also published an edition of the Voltaire, D’Alembert, Condorcet. Correspondance secrète, as well as a reissue of Condorcet’s Vie de Voltaire, published by Rivages (2021 and 2022) and, from the same publisher, a collection composed of texts by Casanova, entitled Quatre jours chez Voltaire.
